MC Pipokinha reflects on criticism and reveals plans for an international career
The singer opened her heart and revealed how her love life is going
MC Pipokinha began her career in 2020, in the “daring funk” segment, with hits such as “Bota na Pipokinha” and “Tira as crianças da sala”. Since the beginning of her musical career, the singer has been the target of some controversy. The funkeira, whose real name is Doroth Helena de Sousa Alves, decided to evaluate the paths she has taken so far.
“I feel blessed and victorious. Because the road I’ve traveled, the things I’ve been through, only I and God know. I’ve absorbed the criticism and tried to filter out what could make me better. And the others, which were more personal, I discarded,” reflected MC Pipokinha.
The artist also revealed her next career steps: “This week I’m going to record a music video with MC Thammy, an artist I admire a lot. I’m also working on a new album with my company, which I really believe in”.
Pipokinha said that her biggest dream is to record a feat with Valeska Popozuda and that, after touring in Portugal, she is thinking of venturing into an international career. “Portugal is a country very similar to Brazil and it was great. It was a unique achievement to take my art to Europe. And to see all my Pipokets enjoying my sound on the other side of the ocean was incredible. I’m thinking of having an international career, but it will be further down the line, there are still many things to be explored in Brazil”.
When it comes to her heart, the funkeira jokes: “Pipokinha will always have an empty and cold heart (laughs). Sometimes Helena goes on adventures,” she says about her version behind the spotlight.
