The Duchess of Cambridge accompanied her brother to some of the treatment sessions
In an interview with The Telegraph newspaper, James Middleton confessed the great support received by his relatives, who not only gave him their love and understanding, but also in his therapy sessions to understand how he felt.
“All of them and it has been very, very important,” he said. “Not necessarily at the same time, but individually and sometimes together. And that was very important because it helped them understand me and understand how my mind worked. And I think the way that therapy helped me was that I didn’t have my family asking me, ‘What can we do?’ The only thing they could do was attend some of the therapy sessions to begin to understand.”
He further revealed that before undergoing therapy, he dealt with suicidal thoughts. Middleton said that when he was admitted to a psychiatric hospital, he was asked about his suicidal intentions, to which he replied.
“I would have to answer this honestly, because I want you to help me. Then I will be honest: Well, actually, yes, but i don’t think i ever will. In my report it said that I had suicidal thoughts but that was not a threat to me.”
