His sister reported that Kabir Singh had a congenital heart condition.

Comedian Kabir Singh has died, as confirmed by his family to NBC News. He was 39 years old.

He passed away in his sleep at his home in Pleasanton, California, in the San Francisco Bay Area, according to his sister, Sonya Singh. His mother was the one who found him on Wednesday.

“My mother, who lives with him, tried to wake him up, but he didn’t wake up,” Sonya Singh told NBC News.

The cause of death is not known at this time, but her brother had a congenital heart condition. Kabir Singh had undergone two surgeries previously due to his condition, according to his sister.

Kabir Singh was the youngest of three siblings. He would have turned 40 on December 30, Sonya Singh noted.

“We were planning his birthday,” she said.

Singh is best known for competing on NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” in 2021, where he made it to the semifinals before being eliminated. NBC is owned by NBCUniversal, the parent company of NBC News and Telemundo.

In his audition for “America’s Got Talent,” Singh performed a brief set where he joked about serial killer documentaries and remembering passwords. He received a “yes” from all four judges: Sofía Vergara, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel, and Simon Cowell.

“I want to be the first comedian to win this, and I’d be the happiest guy in the world,” Singh said before his audition.

In a statement to NBC News on Friday, “America’s Got Talent” described Singh as “a talented comedian” who brought “his undeniable humor” to the stage.

“He brought joy and laughter to so many people, and we will miss his incredible talent,” the statement read.

The comedian, born in Portland, Oregon, also appeared on “Gabriel Iglesias Presents Stand Up Revolution” on Comedy Central and worked on the hit Fox series, “Family Guy.”

“He was very loved in the comedy community,” Sonya Singh told NBC News. “He helped a lot of people and put a lot of people on stage, and he loved working in that field,” she added.

One of Singh’s last comedy performances was in early November at the Deaf Puppy Comedy Club in Manteca, California.

The Manteca comedy club honored Singh in an Instagram post following the news of his death, calling him “one of the best.”
