Finally a feline settled in the White House. She is a ready adopted two-year-old, to which the president of U.S, Joe Biden, and his wife Jill have called Willow. They met at a 2020 election campaign event and the first lady was the one who welcomed her.
It is a short-haired, tabby cat, whose name, according to CNN, is inspired by the hometown of Biden’s wife, Willow Grove, in the state of Pennsylvania.
The first time Jill Biden saw what is already her new pet was at an election campaign event in 2020, according to her press secretary, Michael LaRosa. She recalled that on that occasion on a farm in Pennsylvania, the feline jumped onto the stage to meet the first lady.
At that time, the owners of the farm noticed “immediately the link” that united the animal with Jill Biden, LaRosa recounts, according to CNN, who decided to adopt her and leave her in the care until now with some acquaintances. What’s more, “Willow made a big impression” on President Biden, the press secretary said.
Willow “she’s settling into the White House, with his favorite toys, treats and plenty of room to sniff and explorer,” LaRosa said.
Images posted by the first lady on Twitter show the gray and white striped mascot prowling the splendor of the presidential residence’s red carpet.
This is soft news, even affectionate, that the White House could need in these days of tension with Russia, dizzying inflation and contagion from the covid-19 pandemic.
The feline now shares space with Commander, a purebred German shepherd that the Bidens adopted last December, after the death of Champ, who died in June at the age of 13.
