Following the world premiere of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, initial critical reactions have begun to emerge, which appear to be mostly positive. Overall, Jonathan Majors’ performance as Kang the Conqueror appears to be a smash hit.
Collider’s Steven Weintraub said, “Marvel’s #AntManAndTheWaspQuantumania by Marvel is a great start for Phase 5. Now I understand why it’s called #Quantumania.
“Jonathan Majors is terrific as Kang, and I can’t wait to see where it all goes.”
Reviewer Fico Cangiano said, “#AntManAndTheWaspQuantumania is the best of the trilogy. More stakes, dangers and repercussions. It also has one of the best villains in the MCU in #Kang.
“As soon as #JonathanMajors walks in, it’s his show. Kang is a terrifying multiverse villain brimming with power.”
Buzzfeed’s Nora Dominick confirmed, “She’s compelling, scary, and she’s already giving a top-notch performance. I love the complexity with which she’s invested
Kang at a glance.
“The MCU really won with this casting.”
On the other hand, critic Simon Thompson called the film “a lively but messy spectacle”.
In his opinion: “It never quite finds its footing and relies more on style than substance, the quality not living up to his confidence. Jonathan Majors’ Kang is solid, but the film as a whole is mediocre. unfortunately acceptable.”
In addition, critics positively appreciated the post-credits scenes of the film, stating that audiences will be thrilled to see them when it opens on February 17.
