US first lady Jill Biden paid a surprise visit to Ukraine this weekend. This trip had not been announced and neither did I find her with Olenka Zelenska, wife of Volodimir Zelenski, president of Ukraine.
The Ukrainian first lady had not been seen in public since the start of the war on February 24. Joe Biden’s wife visited Uzhhorod, on the Slvoarian border, where she met with Olena Zelenska.

This was the meeting between Jill Biden and Olenka Zelenska
The wife of the Ukrainian president greeted her American counterpart at the door of a refugee center. Both women hugged each other and Jill Biden gave him a bouquet of flowers because this Sunday is Mother’s Day in the United States and other countries.
The reason why Volodymyr Zelensky’s wife has remained hidden is because she and her family are the main target of Russia and its separatist allies.
Ukraine’s president has made video appearances or visits to war-affected areas but his location remains hidden along with that of his family.
Jill Biden visited Ukraine as a way to show US support for the country under attack. The US administration has authorized the shipment of billions of dollars in weapons.
It has also provided elements so that the Ukrainian army can fight the Russian military during the attacks. US intelligence has facilitated operations such as the attack on Russian generals or the sinking of the Moskva ship.
Joe Biden visited a region bordering Poland with Ukraine in late March but did not go inside for security reasons. Instead, Jill Biden visited the border areas of Ukraine with Romania and Slovakia from where she entered Ukrainian territory for two hours.
