Given the events that occurred this afternoon and evening in Baja California where the wave of violence broke out, the United States Consulate General in Tijuana activated an alert asking Americans to avoid the area of Tijuana, Mexicali, Rosarito, Ensenada and Tecate.
According to the consulate: “The United States Consulate General in Tijuana is aware of reports of multiple vehicle fires, roadblocks, and heavy police activity in Tijuana, Mexicali, Rosarito, Ensenada, and Tecate. US government employees have been instructed to shelter in place until further notice.”
Below they listed a series of actions to take:

-Be careful of your surroundings
-Notify friends and family of your safety

As to whether they will close the sentry boxes in this situation, they have not yet given information. Even at 9:58 p.m. the lines continue to operate regularly.
