A 22-year-old British woman was arrested at Miami International Airport after authorities found a huge amount of marijuana in her luggage. She was about to fly to London when customs officers stopped her.

What Happened

On December 22, 2025, Begum Mulazimoglu from London was getting ready to board a Virgin Atlantic flight to Heathrow. During a routine check of outgoing bags, a U.S. Customs and Border Protection officer smelled strong marijuana from two hard suitcases โ€“ one brown and one black.

The bags had her name on the tags. Officers opened them and found 60 vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana โ€“ 30 in each suitcase. Tests confirmed it was cannabis.

The total weight was about 130 pounds (around 59 kg). Two hidden Apple AirTags were also found inside the bundles, one in each bag.

Mulazimoglu had about $330 in U.S. dollars and ยฃ530 in British pounds (around $713 total) on her.

Charges and Court

She faces a first-degree felony charge of marijuana trafficking. The drugs were valued at more than $30,000.

At her bail hearing on December 23, the judge was surprised by the amount. She said something like, “That’s a lot of marijuana โ€“ it would be heavy!” and even joked about flying to London with it.

Her lawyer said she has no prior record and is a young woman. Bail was set at $10,000. Federal prosecutors decided not to take the case, so it stays local.

Why This Matters

Airports like MIA check outgoing flights too, especially for drugs leaving the U.S. This case shows how strict security is.
