Deaths from coronavirus exceeded 3 million worldwide, according to data from Johns Hopkins University.

According to the latest update from the American private university, 3,000,225 people have died worldwide from COVID-19 disease, the majority in USA (566,224). Then it follows Brazil (368.749), Mexico (211.693), India (175,649) and UK (127.472).

After a slight truce in March, the number of deaths per day rose again worldwide, averaging more than 12,000 dead per day last week, approaching the 14,500 daily deaths registered at the end of January, at the height of the crisis.

The pandemic is in “A critical point”, considered Monday the World Health Organization (WHO), with strong differences between countries such as Israel, which managed to stop it thanks to a intense vaccination campaign, and others, such as India, who are facing a blazing rebound in infections and deaths.

The United Kingdom, the country in Europe most affected by the COVID-19 disease registers in these days a thirty deaths per day, having reached a peak in late January, when it was reporting more than 1,200 per day.

The country, which last Monday left behind more than three months of confinement, began at the beginning of December a massive vaccination campaign thanks to which the 60% of its adult population has already received at least one dose of an inoculant against the coronavirus.

Meanwhile, in USA, the country most affected by the pandemic in the world, cases have slowed sharply since the end of January, although in some states the numbers are on the rise again.

The benefits of vaccination are also visible in Israel, where six out of ten people received at least one dose of the vaccine. The country reports six or seven deaths from COVID-19 a day, almost 10 times less than it reported at the end of January.

Instead, several states they barely stop the explosion of cases. The WHO Technical Officer, Maria Van Kerkhove, alerted last Tuesday that the pandemic is “in full expansion” and “growing exponentially”.

On Brazil, the second country with the most deaths in the world from coronavirus, are advertised around 3,000 deaths every day, that is, almost one quarter of the total reported daily across the planet. It is more than double the number of daily deaths in the country in mid-February. Since March 7, the South American giant is the nation that registers the most deaths from COVID-19 globally.

Deaths are also accelerating in India. In the country of 1.3 billion inhabitants, more than 1,000 deaths are registered every day, nine times more than those reported at the beginning of March.

The increase is similar to that of infections (more than 188,000 every day, while at the beginning of March there were about 15,000). Since the beginning of the pandemic, more than 139 million cases of covid-19 have been registered throughout the world.
