A federal judge in the United States has imposed a fine of 175,000 dollars (about 155,000 euros) against several lawyers who supported the former president, Donald Trump , and tried to block the electoral victory of the current occupant of the White House, Joe Biden , in the state of Michigan.

Among the nine lawyers, who will have to pay the fines equally, are Sidney Powell and Lin Wood, two of the main defenders of the electoral fraud allegations made by Trump after the November 2020 elections.

The imposition came after District Judge Linda Parker ruled in August that attorneys would have to face fees in the city of Detroit.

Parker then raised the possibility of disciplinary action against them, including a possible disqualification, considering that the lawsuit against the electoral results represented a “historical and exhaustive abuse against the electoral process.”

The lawsuit filed by the lawyers a few weeks after the election accused US officials of “illegally manipulating” the ballots to “help Biden get elected.” Therefore, they pointed out, they sought to discredit the results in Michigan.

Of the final amount, as stipulated by Justice, $ 22,000 will go to the governor, Gretchen Whitmer, while the remaining 153,000 will go to the Detroit coffers, according to information from the newspaper ‘The Hill’.

“I will appeal the decision. I have no connection with the Michigan lawsuit filed by Sidney Powell, ”Wood said.
