U.S this Wednesday reached 30,004,079 confirmed cases of the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 and 545,103 deaths from covid-19 disease, according to the independent count from Johns Hopkins University.
This balance at 20.00 local time (00.00 GMT on Thursday) is 1,362 more deaths than on Tuesday and 85,143 new infections.
With its more than 30 million infections, U.S it remains the first country in the world in number of cases followed by Brazil (12,130,019) and India (11,734,058).
California is now the state hardest hit by the pandemic with 57,850 deaths, followed by New York (49,717), Texas (47,689), Florida (32,850), Pennsylvania (24,874), New Jersey (24,292) and Illinois (23,408).
Other states with a large death toll are Georgia (18,660), Ohio (18,381), Massachusetts (16,970), Michigan (16,949), or Arizona (16,842).
In terms of infections, California has 3,647,866, followed by Texas with 2,766,030, third is Florida with 2,021,656, New York is fourth with 1,816,518 and Illinois is fifth with 1,227,607.
The provisional death toll -545,103- far exceeds the lower limit of the initial estimates of the White House, which projected in the best of cases between 100,000 and 240,000 deaths due to the pandemic.
The new president of the United States, Joe Biden, has predicted that in total more than 600,000 people in the country will die from the virus.
For its part, the Institute for Health Metrics and Assessments (IHME) of the University of Washington, whose models for predicting the evolution of the pandemic are often set by the White House, estimates that by July 1, some will have died. 596,000 people.
