Traditionally, a dinner is held to give thanks for the blessings received or the achievements made during the year. Although it is common to cook as a family and bake a turkey, some people choose to buy food from restaurants; some of which offer special menus for Thanksgiving.

Do Supermarkets Open on Thanksgiving?
Unlike other holidays such as Labor Day, Memorial Day, or Veterans Day, when stores remain open, most major supermarkets close on Thanksgiving Day. Walmart, Target, Sam’s Club, and Costco have announced that they will remain closed for Thanksgiving.
Do Banks Open on Thanksgiving?
Since it is a federal holiday, all federal entities close. For banks, each financial institution decides whether it will close or remain open for Thanksgiving Day.
However, most of the largest banks in the United States will remain closed. This includes Bank of America, Wells Fargo, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Chase, Citibank, U.S. Bank, SunTrust Bank, Capital One, Citizens Bank, Santander Bank, and BBVA Compass.
Although banks are closed, you can still perform basic banking transactions via online banking or use your bank’s ATM.
