The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program has a schedule of benefit distribution by state
Every month millions of low-income households in the United States receive food benefits through the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), payments are distributed to families based on family size and other factors.
The program has a monthly payment schedule that specifies the dates on which benefits are distributed in each state, depending on the household’s Social Security number, date of birth, case number or last name.
SNAP payment dates in December:
- Alabama: Dec. 4 through Dec. 23.
- Alaska: December 1.
- Arizona: Dec. 1-13.
- Arkansas: December 4-13.
- California: December 1 to 10.
- Colorado: December 1 to 10.
- Connecticut: December 1-3.
- Delaware: December 2-23.
- District of Columbia: December 1-10.
- Florida: December 1 to 28.
- Georgia: December 5-23.
- Hawaii: December 3 to 5.
- Idaho: December 1 to 10.
- Illinois: from December 1 to 10 and previous cases from December 1 to 20.
- Indiana: December 5 to 23.
- Iowa: from December 1 to December 10.

Depending on the state, payments are deposited on a prepaid electronic benefit transfer (EBT) card, which can be used to make purchases at supermarkets, farmers’ markets, retail stores, among others that are authorized.
The average amount will depend on the number of members of the beneficiary household, in this case it ranges from $291 dollars for a single person and up to a maximum of $1,751 dollars if there are eight members, and about $219 dollars is paid for each additional member.
