Like every new Genshin Impact update, version 3.4 brings a new set of character event wish banners for you to choose from. In 3.4 we will have two iterations of beloved and powerful characters. They are Yelan, a 5-star Hydro DPS sub-character, and Hu Tao, a 5-star Pyro DPS character. Like most dual banners, deciding who to choose can be a daunting task with your limited supply of Primogems.

Yelan and Hu Tao join a 4-star list from Xingqiu, Beidou and Ningguang. This is a solid set of 4-star characters, which means you’ll also get other powerful units in your quest to get a Yelan or Hu Tao. While Ningguang is a fairly mediocre 4-star Geo character, Beidou is a powerful sub-DPS for Electro, and Xingqiu is generally presented as a meta-defining character who fulfills a similar role to Yelan.

Should we bet on Yelan in Genshin Impact version 3.4?

Yelan is a powerful 5-star Hydro sub-DPS character with a simple game plan. Yelan’s main strength is his Elemental Burst, which adds bursts of hydro damage to your normal attacks. The best part is that you can switch to another character while Yelan’s elemental blast is active. This makes it a popular addition to tons of different comps. Yelan also has a good synergy with Xingqiu, as the two elemental explosions combined to create a powerful Hydro DMG and Hydro application typhoon.

While Yelan isn’t strictly necessary if you already have a Xingqiu (preferably Constellation 6), it has incredible synergy with Xingqiu and also has its own niches above Xingqiu. Yelan provides an ATK boost instead of Xingqiu’s more defensive abilities, increasing his team’s damage. Yelan will always be a big draw for any account, so unless you’re not a fan of her character and playstyle, it’s highly recommended to draw her if you can.

Should we bet for Hu Tao in Genshin Impact version 3.4?

Hu Tao is a 5 star Pyro DPS character. Wherever Hu Tao goes, follow the scary season and you’ll scare your enemies with one of the best single target damage dealers. Hu Tao’s primary niche is his ability to deal large amounts of damage to one enemy at a time, with a lesser ability to deal area of effect damage.

Hu Tao’s value dropped slightly with the introduction of Dendro. Single-target DMG isn’t such a valuable niche anymore, especially since equally powerful characters like Yoimiya exist in the same vein. However, Hu Tao still excels in his role, so don’t be afraid to support Hu Tao if you’re a fan of his style of play.
