Russia “Welcomes” Biden’s proposal to extend New START Nuclear Treaty

The Russian government praised US President Joe Biden‘s proposal to extend for five years the New START nuclear disarmament treaty signed between the two countries, which expires in early February.

“We can only welcome the political will to extend this document,” Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitri Peskov told reporters, adding that the renewal of the pact will depend on the “details of the proposal.”
