New York resident mother Orsolya Gaal was reported missing by her husband two years before she was brutally murdered and left in a duffel bag, police sources have revealed.

Howard Klein called 911 on May 29 of 2020, to say his wife was missing, sources told the New York Post.

Klein later told police that Gaal, 51, had been found.

Orsolya Gaal, 51, was killed in the basement of her home by an unknown assailant who then dragged her body half a mile (800 meters) away and dumped it near a popular Metropolitan Avenue walking trail in the early hours on Saturday morning.

Sources who had been briefed on the autopsy told the New York Post that Gaal suffered nearly 60 stab wounds, including defensive-appearing knife wounds to her neck, torso, left arm, fingers and hand.

She had also sustained stab wounds to the carotid artery and trachea.

Gaal’s body was discovered by a man walking his dogs shortly after 8am on Saturday.

Police followed a trail of blood from the bag that led them approximately half a mile (800 meters) to an upscale gated community in Forest Hills.

Klein was traveling out of state at the time of the murder along with her eldest son, Jamie, according to reports.

Police found her youngest son, Leo, 13, alone in the family home. He was questioned and later released by the police.

An NYPD spokesman told The Independent on Monday that no arrests had been made in connection with the killing.
