A student died on Monday and two others were injured by gunshots outside a high school on the outskirts of Des Moines, capital of Iowa ( USA ), police sources cited by local media said.

Des Moines Police indicated on their Twitter account that there were multiple victims in a shooting outside East High School.

The spokesman for the local Fire Department, Ahman Douglass, said, according to CNN, that the victims are two boys and a girl, without specifying the gender of the person who died.

According to the media, the shots could have come from a vehicle that was passing through the area where that high school is located.

Suspects Arrested

Police Sergeant Paul Parizek said, quoted by local media, that the agents received emergency calls around 2:48 p.m. local time (20:48 GMT) and that they have arrested several suspects, although for the moment no charges have been filed against anyone.

According to the count of the organization Gun Violence Archive, which follows violence with firearms in the US, so far this year there have been 80 shootings with at least four deaths or injuries in the country.

Since the beginning of 2022, a total of 7,645 people have lost their lives in the US due to violence with this type of weapon, which includes shootings, murders, suicides or accidental deaths, among others.
