In the best scenario for tourism in 2021, Mexico estimates the arrival of some 33.1 million international tourists, who will leave foreign exchange for about 16,000 million dollars, reported this Monday the Secretary of Tourism of the Mexican Government.

The agency specified that among the expectations of The Mexican tourism industry maintains three possible scenarios: optimistic, conservative and pessimistic, and the health measures implemented by the United States Government are also considered.

In a statement, Turismo de México pointed out that the options of these scenarios “They will become a reality according to the evolution of the crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic throughout the world, as well as the progress in the application of the vaccine that has already begun in our country and in the main markets that emit tourists to Mexico. ”.

In the number of international tourists that will arrive, The optimistic scenario projects 33.1 million, which represents an increase of 8.3 million over what was registered in 2020 and equivalent to an increase of 33.7%.

The conservative indicates instead the arrival of 30.4 million, that is, 5.6 million more than in 2020, which represents an increase of 22.6%, while the pessimist estimates the arrival of 25.2 million tourists, that is, 375,000 more than in 2020, with an increase of 1.5%.

Regarding the income of foreign currency by international visitors, the optimistic scenario foresees that they will reach 16,000 million dollars, 4.700 million dollars more than in 2020 and equivalent to an increase of 41.8%.

In the conservative scenario, some 14,400 million dollars are estimated, 3,200 million dollars higher than in 2020, that is, an increase of 27.4%; while the pessimist raises an income of 11,500 million dollars, 214 million more than in 2020, that is, an increase of 1.9%
