US President Joe Biden said Monday that he wants a “war crimes trial” after the discovery of many bodies in civilian clothes in the Ukrainian city of Bucha , near Kiev.

He is also in favor of taking “more sanctions” against Russia, he told reporters that they were waiting for him when he returned to Washington after spending the weekend at his home in Delaware (northeast).

“I have been criticized for calling Putin a war criminal”, but “what happened in Bucha proves that he is a war criminal”.

It is required, explained the president, “to gather more information” in order to bring Putin to trial, while continuing to provide Ukraine with “weapons to continue fighting” against Russian troops, and “gather all the details”, to have a real “war crimes trial.”

“This guy is ruthless and what has happened in Bucha is outrageous,” Biden insisted, and “everyone has seen it.”

Asked if he believed what happened in Bucha is “genocide,” Biden replied: “No, I think it’s a war crime.” And he added that Putin should “be held accountable” for it.
