Jan 15 (Reuters) – Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is about to turn 40, said on Friday that he is thinking of extending his stay at AC Milan beyond this season and that talks are planned with the club about a new contract.

Ibrahimovic joined the club in December 2019 and last summer signed a one-year extension to continue in Serie A for another season in 2020-21.

Some injuries have interrupted Ibrahimovic’s campaign, but that hasn’t deterred the veteran forward from believing that he can still compete in one of Europe’s top leagues after scoring 10 Serie A goals in just six starts this season.

“As long as I am well, I will continue,” Ibrahimovic said in an interview with the Italian daily Corriere dello Sport. “My contract expires in June and we will talk about it.”
