Greg Abbott sends letter to President Biden to secure designation to facilitate “secure border and protect innocent lives”
Texas Governor Greg Abbott asked President Joe Biden to designate Mexican drug gangs as “terrorist organizations”.
“I urge you to take immediate action to combat the dangerous and deadly Mexican drug cartels,” says the letter sent by the state president.
In the letter, Abbott claims that these criminal groups bring “terror” to Texas communities. “They traffic narcotics and weapons to the United States to finance their illegal companies.” They participate in the human and sexual trafficking of women and children, he warned, “enriching themselves at the cost of misery and the slavery of migrants.”
He argued that designating them as terrorists would provide the necessary tools “to secure the border and protect innocent lives.”
