A sad event happened at a Barnes & Noble bookstore in Florida. A 65-year-old woman was stabbed and died from her injuries. Police arrested a man quickly.

What Happened

On December 22, 2025, just before 8 p.m., police got calls about a stabbing. It was at the Barnes & Noble store in Palm Beach Gardens. The address is 11380 Legacy Avenue, in the Legacy Place shopping area.

Officers found the woman inside the store with bad stab wounds. They tried to help her right away. She was taken to a hospital, but she passed away there.

The attacker ran out of the store after the stabbing. Witnesses told police what he looked like. This helped officers find and arrest him soon after.

Victim and Suspect

The victim was Rita Loncharich, age 65. She lived in the area.

The suspect is Antonio Moore, age 40. He was arrested the next morning, on December 23. He faces charges of first-degree murder. He is in jail with no bail.

Police are still looking into why this happened. Some reports say the suspect might be homeless and have mental health issues. He could be from out of state and new to Florida.

Customers and neighbors are shocked. One person said they never thought something like this could happen in a quiet bookstore.

The shopping center plans to add more security. Barnes & Noble said they do not talk about police cases that are still open.
