NICOSIA, Jan 21- An earthquake with an estimated magnitude of 5.3 struck the Mediterranean island of Cyprus on Thursday, witnesses said, although no casualties or damage were immediately reported.
The tremor occurred around 1427 GMT and was noticed by residents of tall buildings in the capital Nicosia, forcing some people to evacuate.
