On the morning of this January 20, the governor of Cundinamarca, Nicolás García, announced that next weekend the extended curfew measure will be implemented in the 116 municipalities of the department, in order to contain the spread of covid-19 .

After a meeting with the Ministries of the Interior and Health, García took the measure of decreeing a curfew from 8 p.m. on Friday, January 22, until 5 a.m. on January 25, in Girardot, Fusagasugá, Facatativá and Zipaquirá.

The other 112 municipalities of Cundinamarca will also have to remain in their homes extensively, only that in them the restriction will begin on Saturday, January 23, at 8 at night, although it will also go until Monday at 5 in the morning.

One of the objectives of this measure, according to the Governor, is:

Make all possible efforts so that we return to lower that level, that contagion as much as possible, and we can not only have a greater possibility of ICU beds for Cundinamarques, but also to be ready and willing to support the region

Nicolás García added that the occupation of the intensive care units in Cundinamarca is 86% and that there has been a decrease in the rate of daily infections.

During the pandemic, Bogotá and the department have assisted each other in the transfer of covid patients when ICU beds have not been available. On the weekend of January 16, for example, there were 23 patients from the capital treated in hospitals in Cundinamarca.

Quarantine in Bogotá on the weekend

In order to reduce the spread of the virus and the general occupancy of the covid ICUs, which today is 91.3%, throughout the capital there will also be a new strict quarantine next weekend: from 9:00 p.m. on Friday, January 22 to 4:00 a.m. on Monday, January 25.

In addition, in the capital, since January 19 a curfew has been implemented between 8 p.m. and 4 a.m. the next day, which will go on the 28th of this month.
