The Chilean Ministry of Health has reported 4,068 new infections and 66 deaths from coronavirus this Monday, surpassing the barrier of 4,000 cases for the fifth consecutive day.”The variation of new confirmed cases at the national level is 6% in the last seven days. Nine regions have decreased their cases and six increase them,” explained the Minister of Health, Enrique Paris.
In total, Chile has recorded 17,999 deaths and 703,178 cases since the first contagion was detected in the country, at the beginning of March 2020.
Active cases, that is, those who carry the virus and are capable of transmitting it, are 26,475, a figure that has not dropped below the 26,000 threshold for four days. In addition there are 658,324 patients who are considered “recovered”.
Up to 1,272 people are hospitalized in intensive care units. Of these, 1,078 are supported by mechanical ventilation. There are a total of 192 critical beds available.
