Avelino Méndez Rangel, undersecretary of Mexico City, passed away COVID-19 after spending several days in a hospital in the metropolis.
The head of the city government, Claudia Sheinbaum, mourned the death of his partner and sent a message of solidarity to the relatives of Méndez Rangel:
“Goodbye to our dear colleague, Undersecretary of Government Avelino Méndez Rangel. Your dedication, joy and enthusiasm will always be with us. To your family, friends, colleagues, our sincere affection. Goodbye dear friend”, The president wrote on her social networks.

Rosa Icela Rodriguez, Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection, confirmed the death of the undersecretary by coronavirus and asked to remember it as a “great social fighter”.
