Avelino Méndez Rangel, undersecretary of Mexico City, passed away COVID-19 after spending several days in a hospital in the metropolis.

The head of the city government, Claudia Sheinbaum, mourned the death of his partner and sent a message of solidarity to the relatives of Méndez Rangel:
