Bill Gates, one of the richest men in the world and owner of Microsoft, appeared in an interview after several months of announcing his separation with Melinda Gates.

The tycoon, among the confessions he made to CNN, was sorry for having had meetings with Jeffrey Epstein, the financial manager charged with child sex trafficking. “It was a big mistake spending time with him, giving him credibility by being there.” Said Gates Wednesday, August 4.

During the interview, the millionaire told Anderson Cooper that his meeting with Epstein was to raise more money and use it to treat global health problems.

I had several dinners with him, you know, in the hope that what he said about gaining billions of dollars of philanthropy for global health through the connections he had might come out.

However, when Gates saw that it was not something probable, the relationship ended.

Some US media have claimed that the marriage of Gates ended because of her relationship with the late millionaire.

The Journal version noted that Melinda would have already warned her husband that she was not comfortable with Epstein in 2013, but he was still meeting with the businessman.

Gates officially ended his 27-year marriage on Monday, calling what happened “a very sad milestone.”

“Melinda is a great person, and that association that we had coming to an end is a source of great personal sadness.” Said the tycoon. According to their statements, the couple will continue to work together in the foundation that they both created and that bears their names.

When they announced their separation in early July, they stated that they would be trying to work together for two years to see if things worked out. If the opposite happens, Melinda would resign as co-chair and Bill Gates would take care of the total administration.

At the end of 2019, Microsoft’s board members opened an investigation into Bill Gates after an employee said she had a sexual relationship with him for years. At the moment, no further details of this case have been known.

The Jeffrey Epstein Case

In 2019, federal prosecutors in New York accused Epstein of having been a member of a sex trafficking ring. The complaint included the millionaire businessman in the sexual abuse of dozens of minors.

The millionaire financier was convicted and in August of that same year, he was found dead in a New York jail cell. Apparently he committed suicide by hanging.

The 66-year-old had worked with countless politicians and celebrities over the years; had denied the charges and had a 45-year prison sentence, according to AFP.

According to the investigations, Epstein invited the minors to his mansions in Manhattan and Palm Beach, Florida, persuaded them to give him massages that became increasingly sexual and “then paid the victims hundreds of dollars in cash”.

He also paid some of his victims so that they would recruit more girls to be abused,” the prosecution said at the time.

Among the magnate’s friends was the former president Donald Trump, former President Bill Clinton and Prince Andrew of Great Britain.
