The Bexar County District Attorney’s Office called on the community for anyone with relevant information about a case to cooperate fully with authorities.
The Bexar County District Attorney’s Office and the San Antonio Police Department dismissed charges against the Uvalde attacker’s cousin for threatening to shoot.
According to the DA’s office, these cases “rely heavily on the availability of witnesses and the strength of evidence collected.”
“Without this essential cooperation and evidence, prosecuting cases effectively becomes a challenge. Therefore, we emphasize the importance of community involvement and the willingness of witnesses to come forward, as their cooperation is critical to ensuring that justice is served,” read the statement.
On Aug. 8, 2023, authorities arrested a 17-year-old juvenile for allegedly planning to “do the same thing as his cousin,” who committed a 2022 mass shooting at an elementary school, according to court documents.
According to court documents at the time, it all goes back to an incident recorded on Aug. 7, 2023.
“The suspect made these statements to his sister, who notified his mother and called the police. The suspect’s mother was especially concerned because the suspect is currently on probation, was intoxicated at the time, and because of the fact that they live near an elementary school,” reads the arrest warrant.
The Bexar County Prosecutor’s Office called on the community for anyone with relevant information about a case to cooperate fully with authorities and prosecutors, “as your help is invaluable in achieving justice and ensuring the safety of our community,” reads the release.
