The year is almost over, but there are still two holidays left on the calendar. This Thursday, November 28th, Thanksgiving Day will be celebrated, and the last holiday of the year will be Christmas Day on December 25th.
As one of the 11 official holidays, Thanksgiving requires government institutions to close, and employees are entitled to paid time off. Schools, stock exchanges, post offices, and libraries also close, but what about banks? Here are the hours for Thanksgiving Day.
Do Banks Open on Thanksgiving? Bank Hours for Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and More…
Although only government institutions are legally required to close on holidays, other state and private institutions, such as businesses, schools, post offices, supermarkets, and banks, can decide whether to open or close on this day.
While private banks can choose whether to open during holidays, most opt to close, as they follow the Federal Reserve holiday calendar.
Therefore, most banks will be closed this Thursday, November 28th, on Thanksgiving Day. This includes major banks such as Bank of America, BBVA, Citi, Wells Fargo, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, and most financial institutions.
We recommend checking with your local branch or visiting your bank’s website before planning a visit or if you need more information. While the banks will be closed, online banking and ATMs will still be operational.
