The Hague, Jan 22- Former UN Secretary General, Ban Ki-moon, recalled this Friday that “there is no vaccine to fix our changing climate” and warned that this phenomenon is “occurring now and much more quickly ”, which is why we must put “adaptation” and “mitigation” policies against global warming.

In an act prior to the Climate Adaptation Summit (CAS), organized by the Netherlands on January 25, the South Korean diplomat considered that this conference, which will be held for 24 hours to cover events in all time zones, “could not to have arrived at a more appropriate time ”than the global fight to stop the pandemic.
“This summit represents an opportunity to reflect on how communities and countries around the world can recover from this crisis better, stronger and together. In this context, this summit is incredibly important, ”he added.
On the climate agreement signed in 2015 in Paris, Ban Ki-moon stressed feeling “proud to have been one of the world leaders who at that time were united for the future of humanity and planet Earth” and said he was “delighted” with that the new US president, Joe Biden, has rejoined the agreement, which is, he added, a “historic moment” for the climate fight.
DROUGHT AND HEAT WAVES
“In the past five years, that agreement has fundamentally reshaped the landscape of how we tackle the global climate crisis by catalyzing unprecedented action by governments, businesses, investors, cities and citizens. But we have to do more: 2020 was a year of heat waves, intense droughts and forest fires,” he said.
