American actress Anne Heche, who was hospitalized this weekend after a serious car accident, is now in a coma, her spokesperson told the American magazine Deadline.

“Anne is currently in extremely critical condition,” she explains. “She has severe lung damage which requires mechanical ventilation and burns which require surgery. She is in a coma and has not regained consciousness since the accident.”

Last Saturday, a statement released in the columns of Hollywood Reporter claimed that the actress was “in stable condition”: “Her family and friends ask you to think of her and pray for her – and to respect her privacy during this difficult time”, had nevertheless added her spokesperson.

Success in the 1990s

Anne Heche’s car crashed into a two-story house in the Mar Vista neighborhood of Los Angeles on Friday, “causing structural damage as well as a heavy fire”. It took more than an hour for the sixty firefighters mobilized to extinguish the fire.

Anne Heche acted in a large number of films in the 1990s, including Six Days, Seven Nights or Donnie Brasco. She is also known for her role in the soap opera Another World, which won her a Daytime Emmy Award in 1991.
