For the first time in three decades, a secret geothermal treasure has been found in Nevada. And it was artificial intelligence that did the job. A company called Zanskar Geothermal used smart AI tools to spot a hot underground spot that old methods missed for 30 years.

The new site is in the hot southwest part of Nevada. Tests show water coming up at 149°C (300°F). That’s super hot and perfect for making clean power 24/7. Zanskar says the spot can make enough energy for about 500,000 homes without any carbon emissions.

Old ways of looking for geothermal energy were slow and costly. Teams had to drill many test holes and hope for luck. But Zanskar’s AI looked at tons of old data, satellite pictures, and geology maps in just weeks. Then it told the team exactly where to drill. The first try hit the hot water jackpot.

“This is a game changer,” said Zanskar’s boss, Joel Murphy. “AI can open up geothermal energy all over the world much faster and cheaper.” Nevada already leads the U.S. in gold and now wants to lead in green power too. The state hopes to double its geothermal plants soon.

Experts are excited. They say this could help the U.S. hit clean energy goals without depending on sun or wind alone. Geothermal works day and night, rain or shine.

More AI hunts are already starting across the western U.S. Who knew machines could find hidden heat under our feet after 30 years? Pretty cool stuff!
