Two weeks after getting lost in the Australian bush, a man has been found alive. It is about Robert Weber, 58, who has managed to survive thanks to a diet based on mushrooms and dam water, as indicated by the police of the town where he was found after an exhaustive search through the dense bushes, rivers, dams and steep terrain in the area in humid conditions.
Weber was last seen walking his dog, leaving a hotel in Kilkivan, Queensland, on January 6. Since then, the police have searched the area for him, even having to suspend the tracking jobs for a week when they couldn’t find him. Neither him nor anything that could imply that the man was near the place where he disappeared. It wasn’t until 18 days later that Weber was seen in a jungle, near the dam, by an owner.
After his rescue, Robert Weber told Globe Live Media that he had gotten lost while trying to avoid traffic, so he could no longer return: “I had to go home that night. I was going to home happily. There was a lot of traffic so I turned right, went up the mountain and came down the other side. I made the wrong decision in a split second and paid 18 days for it.”
“I passed out, my body can’t take it”
As the police have added to the medium, Weber got ‘bogged down’, disoriented, on a road that the Australian did not know, for which he decided to stay in his car, with his dog, for three days, before running out of water. Afterward, he had to find a way to survive, hoping someone would come to his rescue. “He went out on foot, got lost and stayed in a dam where he survived by sleeping on the ground, drinking water from the dam and eating mushrooms”, Queensland police said in a statement.
“I had no shelter. I passed out, my body couldn’t take it. That was the hardest part ”, indicated Robert Weber who, after his rescue, was transferred to the hospital after suffering an exposure, although he is “safe and sound”. Despite his rescue, Weber’s dog was not found and remains unknown.
