Mortality from respiratory diseases has increased in Bashkiria

Significant growth compared to last year.
Significant growth compared to last year.

According to the Ministry of Health, in Bashkiria, 507,453 patients were hospitalized in hospitals in 9 months, of which 1.97% died. Rough estimates put approximately 9,996 deaths in hospitals. According to the same source, deaths from respiratory diseases in the nine months of 2019 in hospitals accounted for 8.1%, and this year the figure has grown to 19.1%. Roughly speaking, this is 1909 people who died in hospitals from respiratory diseases.

The main respiratory diseases are bronchitis, pneumonia, bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), bronchiectasis, respiratory distress syndrome, pulmonary embolism, interstitial lung diseases, pleurisy, pulmonary emphysema, lung cancer.

For all other items, the statistics have not changed much – there is a slight increase among diseases of the endocrine system – this is 6.7% of all deaths in hospitals, against 6.2% last year. It should be borne in mind that this is also hospital mortality.

According to the Minister of Health Maxim Zabelin, provided on November 17 at a briefing, mortality from respiratory diseases in Bashkiria increased by 1.4 times. We recalculate it into human language – we get an increase of 40%. We are looking at Rosstat: over the past year, 2709 people died from respiratory diseases in the period from January to September. It turns out that if the growth is 1.4 times – 3792 have already died from respiratory diseases.

Total: In Bashkiria, 3792 people died from respiratory diseases, of which 1909 died in hospitals.

In total, according to Rosstat, 41,092 people died in Bashkiria in 9 months of 2020, which is 11.4% more than in the same period last year. It became known last week that Bashkiria took the leading place in ignoring the “excess deaths” in the statistics of deaths from COVID-19. In the region, in comparison with last year, 4,688 more people died than last year only in the period from April to September. However, according to official statistics, only 70 people have died from the coronavirus (today).

Pneumonia mortality is also not clearly correlated with coronavirus mortality. According to the same Rosstat, as of October 1, 1505 residents of Bashkiria have died from pneumonia since the beginning of 2020. Last year, 860 people died from this disease during the same period.

Since we practically do not die from coronavirus, it turns out that postmortem diagnoses are distributed among other nosologies.
