Minnesota state Sen. Jerry Relph dead from COVID-19 complications

A Minnesota state senator who recently contracted COVID-19 died of the disease on Friday.

The Star Tribune reported that Republican Sen. Jerry Relf for the first time tested positive for the virus after close contact with an infected co-worker.

On November 10, Ralph began quarantining.

According to MPR News, the 76-year-old Vietnam War veteran, who recently lost re-election, was one of several GOP state senators to join the party after the election in November.

Around the same time, after experiencing COVID symptoms, Ralph went to the emergency room twice, but was not hospitalized, the outlet reported.
