Because inflation rates and food price increases change by state in the US, economic pressure and stress is also felt differently by region of the country.
After inflation has been rising to historic levels in the United States in recent months, with prices increasing 13.3% between January 2021 and July 2022, many people have suffered constant anguish in keeping up with their expenses and needs.
Last October, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) gave a slight relief to consumers by standing at 7.7% in its annual measurement; however, there are still many basic products and services whose prices remain outside the budget of Americans.
A recent survey by the US Census Bureau found that 46.9% of American adults found inflation to be “very stressful” in the past two months, and another 27.5% found it to be “moderately stressful.”
Because inflation rates and other economic conditions vary across the country and in some states, Americans are much more likely to feel the pressure differently based on where they live.
Using data from the Census Bureau’s Household Pulse Survey, 24/7 Wall St. identified the states where inflation is causing the most stress.
