The economic challenges that the Covid-19 pandemic has implied in the world, as well as its implications in the reconfiguration of businesses and supply chains, will be analyzed at the V Congress of the Alliance for Ibero-America Business Council (CEAPI), which will be held for the first time outside of Spain and will be hosted by the Dominican Republic.

This meeting will bring together more than 190 businessmen from the countries of Ibero-America in order to reflect on how companies have led themselves so far and, above all, what are the future scenarios and challenges facing the region.

Businessmen and political leaders will analyze the impact that digitization has had on economic and investment decision-making, for the benefit of people, the territory and the planet, with the aim of generating shared value.

The forum will be held on June 1 and will be attended by the Ibero-American Secretary General, Andrés Allamand; the Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Rebeca Grynspan, and the General Director of Business of IDB INVEST, Gema Sacristán.

Also attending will be the former mayor of Madrid, Ana Botella; the Secretary General for the Demographic Challenge of Spain, Francés Boya, as well as the former President of the Spanish Government, José María Aznar, and the former Ibero-American Secretary General Enrique Iglesias, who is also honorary president of CEAPI.

The meeting will also bring together presidents of large companies from Latin American countries, such as OHLA from Mexico, Banco Itau from Brazil; Hochschild, from Peru; Punta Cana Group, from the Dominican Republic; Gilinski, from Colombia; Puerto Rico Supplies Group, from Puerto Rico, and the Spanish CAF, Grupo Eulen, Hispasat or Grupo Piñero.

One of the major issues that will be debated is the role of the Ibero-American nations in the new world order after the coronavirus pandemic, the 2008 crisis and China’s economic positioning, as well as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and what These are the main challenges facing the region in the face of economic, commercial, technological, political or military conflict.

In addition, technological innovation will be addressed where the emergence of blockchains, the metaverse and NFTs have taken over the reality of companies and determine, today, their viability or failure.

“We will analyze the challenges of Ibero-America to close the digital gap that hinders the deployment of these new technologies, vital so that the region does not miss the train of the IV Industrial Revolution,” said CEAPI.

Similarly, the panelists will present the ways of sustainable development that Ibero-America has in view of the 2030 Agenda that does not compromise the environment with high economic growth.

According to statistical data, Ibero-American countries are powerhouses in renewable energies, as they have 86% of the world’s lithium reserves and more than 30% of fresh water.

The 5th CEAPI Congress will address the role of the renewable energy sector as an engine for growth, job creation and innovation, capable of leading the transformation of Ibero-America towards more efficient and sustainable economies.
