Whether on Anime Digital Network (ADN), Crunchyroll or even Wakanim, many animated series recently arrived from Japan have enriched the catalog of French “simulcast” platforms. Here is a selection of the anime not to be missed in January 2021, not to mention the major series still in progress.

New for January 2021

Hortensia Saga

Hortensia Saga is an anime inspired by the eponymous video game, available only in Japan on iOS and Android. Set in a medieval universe, the story follows the peregrinations of the Crown Princess of the kingdom of Hydrangea. Having come of age, she changes into a man to be able to claim the throne: her father, the king, was assassinated by the duke during a merciless war.

The Promised Neverland (Saison 2)

In January 2021, the Weekly Shonen Jump announced that a video game adaptation would see the light of day.

Project Scard : Scar of the Praeter

Project Scard : Scar on the Praeter is a Japanese anime. The story takes place in a fictional district of Tokyo, named Akatsuki. Nevertheless, agents invulnerable to bullets will emerge to bring about peace and uphold their own definition of justice.

SK8 the Infinity

SK8 the Infinity is a Japanese anime, directed by Utsumi Hiroko (Banana Fish, Free!). It tells the story of Langa, a Japanese student who returned from a trip abroad. Via Reki, another high school student, he will discover the “S” track, a skateboard competition taking place in an abandoned mine, particularly known for the frenzied jousting taking place during the races.

AzurLane – Slow Ahead!

AzurLane – Slow Ahead! takes place in the same universe as Azur Lane, a Chinese shoot’em up game that is a hit in Japan. The anime takes up the historical context of the Second World War: we follow the battle ofAzur Lane a naval fleet determined to reclaim the seas of his kingdom, once lost to the siren. Azur Lane will have to defeat his former ally The Red Axis, now a partner of this mysterious enemy.

Dr. Stone (Season 2)

Dr. Stone : Stone Wars is the second season of the anime adaptation of the manga of Riichirō Inagaki. A storm of unknown origin has swept over Earth, turning all of its inhabitants to stone. The spectators follow the story of Senku, a high school student with excellent scientific knowledge, who comes out of his petrification 3700 years later. His goal is to find the origin of this storm, and to guide the civilization that has returned to the Stone Age.
