New government data revealed that, as expected, some people who are fully vaccinated against the coronavirus are becoming ill from new infections, although it is not a common situation.

MORE THAN 75 MILLION HAVE BEEN FULLY VACCINATED

The health authorities have reiterated that no vaccine is perfect and that infections were expected in some of the people already vaccinated.

But on Thursday, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported for the first time how many “intercurrent” infections have been recorded so far.

About 5,800 infections have been detected in approximately 40 states that have reported such data. Nationally, about 75 million people have been fully vaccinated.

The figures seem to indicate that new infections are being detected in approximately one in 13,000 people vaccinated with the full doses.

But CDC officials cautioned that the reporting of such cases has been spotty and incomplete, and there is no easy and accurate way to estimate how frequently such incidents occur.

Although many of those 5,800 people had symptoms, 30% did not report any symptoms. However, 396 people were hospitalized. And 74 of them died.

The agency continues to recommend that people vaccinated with full doses take precautions in public spaces, such as wearing masks and avoiding crowds and poorly ventilated spaces.
