NEW YORK – Even as the Tri-State area seeks to recover from a tornado in New Jersey and a winter mix of rainfall that ruined travel for many, we are already looking at our next weather system – and this one- this could bring snow.
Early models hint at decent snowfall Monday evening through Tuesday morning, particularly in northern New York and northern New Jersey, the Hudson Valley and parts of Connecticut. Regardless of whether it works, the upcoming system signals a fresh and shaky start to March, with another big system in the works to kick off that month.
We are looking for cool temperatures for Friday, which fell to around 45 from around 48 on Thursday, and even colder on Saturday, when highs are expected to barely rise above freezing.
Winds will be gusting to nearly 30mph on Friday, so it will quickly feel like winter as the wind chill drops to 20s and 30s.
We’re looking at another weather-divided weekend, with Saturday expected to see freezing temperatures in the 40s and maybe a few gusts in the afternoon.
On Sunday, we are back to above average temperatures. We’re tracking another storm system that could hit in about a week, but at this point it’s too difficult to predict how it might affect the tri-state area.
