NEW YORK — At least two Manhattan schools were closed Tuesday morning after a shooting took place outside one, according to the School Safety Officers Union.
The shooting happened in front of the school. Martin Luther King In Amsterdam Avenue between 67th there 68th street just before 10:00 a.m. Police sources say a man, possibly a student from a nearby school, appears to have been shot three times in the stomach.
The union said it was told the victim was 15, although police did not immediately confirm this.
He was taken to hospital in an unknown condition. Sources say a person of interest is in custody and authorities are investigating whether other people may be involved. LaGuardia was the other school closed on Tuesday morning.
The video posted on Citizen Application showed a strong response from the police at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
