Former President Donald Trump used his social network to fuel the attacks against the senator Mitch McConnell of Kentucky, suggesting that the Republican leader had “a death wish” as he had voted to pass legislation that was introduced by Democrats.
In a post on the Truth Social platform, Trump asked if McConnell had supported the unspecified bills: “Because he hates Donald J. Trump and he knows I oppose them,” wrote the former president and attached to the post. “He has a death wish.”
Donald Trump’s spokesman, Taylor Budowich, told NBC News that the former president’s comment on his social network should not be described as dangerous.
“Mitch McConnell is killing the Republican Party for weakness and cowardice,” he said.
And I add: “He obviously has a political death wish for himself and the Republican Party, but President Trump and the champions of America First in Congress will save the Republican Party, and our nation”, Budowich added.
The former president wrote his discomfort against the Kentucky senator, in Truth Social, but did not specify which Democrat bill did McConnell support and unleashed his fury.
Of the last projects that were approved in the Senate is the bill to maintain government funding which took place on Thursday, September 29 and which obtained a vote of 72 to 25 and in which it included the support of McConnell and that of other Republicans.
Although it is important to mention that earlier this week Senator McConnell mentioned that would gladly support legislation that both parties promoted to review the certification rules of the presidential election, which, according to his statements, put Trump at odds.
To end his anger against McConnell, he maintained: “You should immediately seek the help and advice of your beloved Chinese wife, Coco Chow.”
It should be remembered that Donald Trump has had differences with Mitch McConnell for a long time, one of the most remembered is when the senator voted for the exoneration of the former president in February of last year and the tycoon also exploded against him.
“Mitch is a trashy politician, dour, taciturn and unsmilingand if Republican senators stay by their side, they are not going to win again,” he wrote in a statement.
Trump’s most recent attacks on the Republican senator have included derogatory comments about his wife of Taiwanese origin, Elaine Chao, who served as transportation secretary during his administration.
The former president was very angry with McConnell after the Senate GOP leader said Republicans are more likely to flip the House than the Senate by suggesting Trump-backed nominees are not up to the task.
“Why do Republican senators allow a failed politicianMitch McConnell openly disparages hard-working Republican candidates for the United States Senate?” Trump commented.
And then he attacked: “This is an affront to honor and leadership. I should spend more time (and money!) helping them get elected, and less time to help his crazy wife and his family to get rich with China!”.
