Writer E. Jean Carroll testified Wednesday in his trial against former President Donald Trump, telling jurors, “I’m here because Trump raped me.”
When he presented his allegations in 2019, Trump ‘lied and trashed my reputation and I’m trying to get my life back,’ Carroll said in testimony as civil trial opens in federal court in Lower Manhattan .
Carroll, 79, said he met Trump – who said he didn’t know who she was and had never met her – in 1987 at a party for “Saturday Night Livewhere she was a writer at the time. She said she believes that’s where a photo was taken of her with Trump, his then-wife Ivana and her husband, a popular local news anchor.
