US intelligence agencies on Tuesday accused Russia and Iran of having tried to interfere in the 2020 presidential elections and revealed that Cuba, Venezuela and the Lebanese Shiite militia Hezbollah also tried to influence the process , although its effect was more limited.

The spokesman said that Russia has been forced “to take all necessary measures to minimize the risks associated with possible sanctions and to protect as much as possible” the interests of the country.
Peskov confirmed that after the last two presidential elections in the US, the new administrations began their administration “with various investigations regarding Russia and the implementation of multiple sanctions.”
In addition, he regretted that “low quality” reports are used to include “new sanctions” against Russia on the agenda.
In this sense, he affirmed that the actions of the US authorities are “unpredictable”, so that Russia takes into consideration “all possible variants of action” of the US.
“This line of action damages Russian-American relations, which are already quite deteriorated. And of course, it does not favor any of the attempts or samples of political will that seek the normalization of these relations,” he said.
