To liberate Cuba is to liberate Latin America and that day is “near”, conservative leaders from several countries said Saturday gathered in Miami for the Convention of the Cuban Resistance Assembly (ARC) and the presentation of a National Salvation Manifesto for the Island.
The ARC platform, which includes more than 30 opposition organizations from inside and outside Cuba, has prepared this document for the first 24 months of a “democratic transition” which, in addition to being “necessary “, sees “possible” after the demonstrations of July 11 of 2021.
ARC coordinator Orlando Gutiérrez presented the manifesto after a meeting at the Cuban Diaspora Museum in Miami attended by politicians from Spain, El Salvador, Mexico, Croatia and the Dominican Republic, among others.
Among them, the president of the Spanish Vox party in Madrid, Rocío Monasterio, and the MEP of this far-right formation Hermann Tersch, as well as the lawyer and former Mexican senator René Bolio and the Salvadoran deputy Ricardo Godoy, of the Arena party .
Gutiérrez said it is a “comprehensive and coherent plan for the salvation of the Cuban nation” through a “pueblazo” that leads “to the overthrow of the regime and the restoration of citizen sovereignty.”
Salvadoran Godoy gave one of the most fiery speeches criticizing the European Union for its cooperation with Cuba, which he says amounts to “funding the repression” of those who call for freedom and democracy in this country and call on conservative forces in Latin America to work together and “take action”.
According to him, Cuba is the “head of the serpent” that must be “cut” to free Latin America from communism. “If Cuba falls, the rest falls,” he said.
Bolio said, for his part, that communism and socialism are different names for the same ideology that he seeks only “a few” to hold power forever, as is the case in Cuba and China, countries where “the Communist Party rules.” .
According to him, on the same side are Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, Presidents Joe Biden (United States), Andrés Manuel López Obrador (Mexico), Alberto Fernández (Argentina), Gabriel Boric (Chile) and Luiz Inácio Lula. Silva (Brazil).
The plan presented at the meeting is based on an Agreement for Democracy in Cuba approved in 1998 and includes proposals from civil society “for freedom and democratization” of the country.
It is “a roadmap for when the time for change will come” in Cuba, according to the document, which points out that the “foundations of the regime” were undermined by the July 11 protests and that the economic situation of the country is “maddening”. “.
“The end is near. The regime knows it. The Cuban people know it. Cubans in exile know it. Freedom is approaching,” proclaimed the manifesto.
Opponents aim to ensure that the “popular rebellion” movement that sparked the protests leads to change and stress that the permanent national strike called in 2021 is essential, as well as the “three by three” strategy to create a “human chain which the regime cannot cut”.
This strategy consists in each person involved in the strike looking for three others and these people looking for three others each and so on until it is “extended” to the whole country.
The manifesto sets out specific steps for once change is achieved, beginning with the formation of a transitional government.
