The creator of the saga thinks that if they make more games, they will be greatly influenced by the television series.
This morning we woke up with lots of buzz on social media for different reasons. In addition to the celebration of the 2023 Oscars gala (which, by the way, the great Pedro Pascal attended), millions of people were able to enjoy the last episode of the first season of The Last of Us. The HBO series closed its first leg in the world of streaming and television with incredible viewership ratings and excellent reviews.
The success of this adaptation exploded the sales of the two video games of the saga, and inevitably, too makes people wonder again and again if Naughty Dog will develop a third installment in the future. Neil Druckman he seems unwilling to return to this world unless he finds a story really worth telling, but lately he’s been leaving us with some hopeful statements for fans.
Druckmann continues to talk about the hypothetical TLOU 3
- Diego González, journalist at the newspaper El Español (via Vandal), had the pleasure of chatting with Druckmann for a while at a digital press event and there he was able to ask him about the future of the series
- This creation commented that filming the HBO series was an enriching experienceand that if they visit the IP again as a game (something that remains to be seen) there would of course be Series elements that would apply in The Last of Us: Part III
- Then he mentioned that he believed that in this world there is two types of writers: those who tell different stories one after the other and those who tell the same thing over and over again, trying to improve it, change it and explore the same themes; and Druckmann claims to belong to the latter group.
What things from the series could appear in The Last of Us 3?
The truth is that Druckmann’s statements are quite ambiguous. Only he is clear on what kind of elements from the HBO series he could implement in a new The Last of Us video game, but I think perhaps it can refer to experimenting with other ways of telling a plot and developing a characteror the staging itself.
In any case, we still don’t know if we will see a new The Last of Us video game in the future. Would you like an Abby-centric game?
