Throughout its plot, we follow two characters that parody Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle after the death of the queen. Its main objective is get more privacy, but they continue to get attention and make TV appearances.
How is the Dukes of Sussex parody?
- South Park is a series known for attacking and criticizing important and famous personalities in general.
- have recently uploaded against Kanye West for his anti-Semitic speech and now it’s the turn of the Dukes of sussex.
- In this case ridicule the attitude of Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Marklethat demand privacy, but keep attracting attention.
- Although the characters are a clear representation of these individuals, their names are never explicitly mentioned.
- Cartoons that imitate them carry signs that say “Stop Staring at Us” there “We want privacy” as they cause a scandal all over the world.
In addition to the above, also ridicule Prince Harry’s recent book: ‘Spare’. In this autobiographical novel, the Duke recounts his life as a member of the crown and explains all the difficulties his status has brought him. For many, this book has been quite funny, because they think that being a member of royalty allowed him to lead a life full of comfort and luxury. This criticism is reflected in South Park with a change in the title of the book, which is renamed “Waagh”, imitating a baby’s cry.
Finally, they also specifically attack Meghan Markle, describing her as a « sorority girl, actress, influencer and victim”. the duchess of sussex expressed how he feels “upset and overwhelmed” for episode content. He also said that he found it very unpleasant and I couldn’t finish watching it completely.
Could Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sue South Park?
- After the episode premiered, the Dukes expressed their displeasure and some sources close to the couple said that they were considering a trial.
- Nevertheless, a Sussex spokesperson denied the possibility.
- Based on what he said, he believes the lawsuit rumors “These are totally unfounded and boring reports”.
Despite South Park attacking such powerful figures as Donald Trump, Kanye West, Tom Cruise and even Jesus Christit is surprising to see that they were almost never prosecuted. One of the main reasons why it is very difficult to take legal action against them is the warning text they include at the start of each episode. In this short paragraph they state that characters based on real people are “completely made up” and that celebrity voices are “mere impersonations”.
