Soraya has released a new song called “Appointment,” a very special theme with an included message that she created earlier this year. She assures us that at that time, “it seemed like a good idea to reach out. The theme of ‘Appointment’ is as if a friendly hand invites you to go out, to celebrate life. It is an invitation to be a little happier.”
She celebrates life and has many reasons to do so: “My life’s dream was to devote myself to music, and I am lucky to have been able to do so and to have the opportunity. Also, my dream of my life was, at the time, to be a mother, and I am already a mother of two girls. My dream is to one day have a small house in the countryside. I have a lot of dreams, and it’s good that a person has motivation in life. It’s what makes us live.”
She composed the song with the same team that made her last singles, made up of Colombians and Spaniards living in Miami, where she travels from time to time. “I have worked with this team for ‘How Beautiful,’ which has become an anthem, and I like working with them because they have the ability to create universal songs for all audiences, and that’s kind of the direction I’m taking in my career,” she recognizes.
“At another point in my life, I focused on dance music, and now, as a mother and the responsibility that I have as an artist, I like to make songs that make us think, that touch our feelings, that touch our soul, that make us a little happier,” she explains about what she is looking for today with her songs.
Her first attempt with the public was with children, with a school. “Somehow, our children or our young people are the future, and I hope that my music will continue to satisfy not only those of my age, those who have followed my career from the beginning, but also my new generations,” she says.
Manuela’s cameo
In the video for this song, we can see her eldest daughter, Manuela, dancing and walking with her. “My daughters are part of my life and also part of my work because they are often my inspiration. When I create songs, I ask myself if my daughters will feel identified with these themes, if they will like them. I keep them very present. There is a lyric from ‘How Beautiful’ that every time I sing the stanza that says ‘these little eyes are hoping,’ I see my daughter’s little eyes. I wish I could have my daughters in all my projects because those are the moments that I create with them, and tomorrow they will remember that they were with me in this video or in this concert,” she explains. The subject of the overexposure of children always arouses controversy.
“Olivia is very small, but as soon as she starts to behave a little more, I will take her anywhere, of course,” she assures about the little girl who has not yet been seen on stage or in a music video.
“Manuela gives importance to everything. It’s a mom’s music video, but she goes out dancing, which she’s been doing for the three years I signed her up for ballet, and it is something everyday in her. Nothing more was asked of her than to participate as she is. It’s been a lot of fun,” she said.
They recorded it in the city of Jerez. “Kids don’t lie, my daughter is happy to be in a music video with my daughter,” she admitted, “Seeing yourself at the hairdresser, combing your eyelashes, getting dressed, is every girl’s dream.”
In addition to dancing, Manuela also walks with her mother, both dressed accordingly
