NEW YORK – A 17-year-old boy is the latest death from gun violence in New York. This time, he died after being shot outside a Bronx subway station.
The shooting occurred around 10:05 p.m. Monday in the Bronx outside the Burke Avenue and White Plains Road subway station, where two teenagers, both 17, were trapped amidst bullets. The one who died suffered head, shoulder and arm injuries, but doctors at Jacobi Hospital were unable to save his life.
The other minor, 17, was shot in the hip and authorities say is in stable condition at the same hospital.
The police report says the shooting allegedly erupted after a scuffle inside the station’s mezzanine. Metro then apparently found himself in the street under a hail of bullets. However, information is sparse and it is unclear if the victims were the targets of the shooting.
So far, there have been no arrests and Firehouse 47 investigators ask that if they have any information, they confidentially call 1-888-57-PISTA.
