A shooting near a nightclub in Tennessee on Sunday morning left a balance of three dead and 14 people wounded by bullets and other injuries, reported to the police.

Fourteen people were hit by bullets and three by vehicles that were taken from fleeing the scene, said the police chief of Chattanooga Celeste Murphy, at a press conference.

Two people died from gunshot wounds and one from being struck by a vehicle, Murphy said. Sixteen of the victims were adults and one was a minor. Several were found in critical condition.

Officers responding to a report of shots fired near a nightclub found numerous victims. They immediately rushed to provide aid and surround the place.

Multiple people fired shots, Murphy said, but the police believe that it was an isolated incident and that there is no longer any danger to people.

“We are trying to determine exactly what happened and how this situation came to be,” he said.
